Earlier today, I posted a new coloring page, FKOQR, 1-1-3-2M. There were four shapes in the tessellation. I combined two of them for the black and white shape and two of them for the gray background.

Then, I combined three of the shapes for a different look. I had to color this tessellation variation different from the first.

This got me to thinking that maybe tessellations weren’t just interesting designs, but a sort of puzzle: a shape puzzle.
I wondered if there were any benefits in puzzle-solving. A search of “health benefits of puzzles” brought up over 29 million results!
Puzzle-solving benefits:
- Keep you mentally fit and active.
- Practices pattern recognition skills.
- Improves short- and long-term memory.
- Reduces risk of dementia.
- Improves concentration.
- Gives satisfaction and sense of accomplishment.
. . . and the list goes on.
So, I invite you to take another look at the tessellation Coloring Pages. Look at them as puzzles to solve.
Your brain will thank you for it.
