This post will show different square knots and their round counterparts.

**4 by 4 knot, no breaks:** four corners, eight curves, twelve bars. There are four separate strands in the knot.

**4 by 4 knot, one break:** four corners, ten curves, nine bars. There are three separate strands in the knot.

**4 by 4 knot, two breaks:** four corners, twelve curves, six bars, There are four separate strands in the knot.

**4 by 4 knot, three breaks:** six corners, ten curves, four bars. There are five separate strands in the knot.

**4 by 4 knot, four breaks:** eight corners, eight curves, four bars. There are six separate strands in the knot.

**5 by 5 knot, four breaks:** eight corners, twelve curves, sixteen bars. There are five separate strands in the knot.

**5 by 5 knot, four breaks:** eight corners, twelve curves, two esses, twelve bars. There are five separate strands in the knot.

I like the 4 by 4, four breaks the best because it is centered.
